A leading tier I automotive supplier is seeking a Procurement Specialist to oversee the procurement of a designated category with an annual expenditure of up to $50M. In this role, you will report to a Purchasing Manager and collaborate closely with two facilities to support production initiatives. Your daily responsibilities will include:

  • Sourcing components, parts, and raw materials for an assigned category with an annual spend of $50M and up to 100 SKUs.
  • Maintaining relationships with current suppliers (approximately 20 on an established vendor list) and identifying new sources as necessary.
  • Negotiating pricing, payment terms, and contracts.
  • Reviewing quotations, soliciting RFQs, and addressing feasibility concerns.
  • Adapting to evolving procurement responsibilities in a dynamic environment.
  • Developing and mentoring the supplier base.
  • Tracking and entering necessary information into the organization's ERP system.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance procurement strategies and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Making data-driven decisions and striving to improve reporting strategies.
  • Supporting assigned manufacturing sites and assisting with quality-related issues.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned by management.

This role demands qualified candidates to initially spend time on the manufacturing floor to understand processes; floor time will be minimal post-training. Candidates should thrive in team-oriented settings, quickly learn new tasks and commodities, manage shifting priorities, and enjoy supporting the manufacturing site.

Requirements for the Procurement Specialist:

  1. A Bachelor's degree is preferred; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  2. At least three years of experience in a similar fast-paced procurement role, depending on educational background.
  3. Experience in sourcing new vendors and purchasing within a manufacturing context.
  4. Strong negotiation capabilities.
  5. Ability to interpret blueprints.
  6. Experience with ERP systems.
  7. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including charts, graphs, and formulas.

Preferred Skills (not required):

  • Experience in the automotive supply sector.
  • Familiarity with SAP.
  • Knowledge of power reporting tools, such as Power BI and power queries.
