Purpose of the Role: To deliver a warm, professional, and efficient service, executing a range of tasks primarily associated with the check-in and check-out processes, thereby enhancing the overall guest experience.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Welcome, register, and allocate rooms to guests. Provide room keys and direct escort instructions to the Bell staff or directly to guests as appropriate, without disclosing room numbers.
2. Respond to inquiries regarding hotel amenities, guest registration, and local shopping, dining, entertainment, and travel directions.
3. Maintain records of room availability and guest accounts. May handle reservations for guests, including making, confirming, and canceling bookings.
4. Calculate bills, collect payments, and provide change to guests. May record charges such as room, food, beverages, or telephone by hand or electronically.
5. Date-stamp, sort, and organize incoming mail and messages. Communicate messages using devices such as telephones, faxes, and switchboards.
6. Understand and uphold the hotel’s credit policies. Account for all cash transactions and make deposits in accordance with hotel and company regulations.
7. Proactively greet guests in a friendly and welcoming manner.
8. If in a Lead Role: (a) assume responsibility for assigned staff in the absence of the Supervisor, (b) delegate tasks, and ensure proper execution of duties by assigned staff.
9. May assist in making restaurant, transportation, or entertainment reservations for guests; may secure guests' valuables in hotel safes or safety deposit boxes; may arrange complimentary flowers or champagne for special occasions.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
1. Communicate clearly and listen attentively.
2. Utilize personal judgment and specialized knowledge to provide information to guests.
3. Interact effectively with a diverse range of individuals.
4. Adapt easily and frequently shift between various tasks such as typing, interviewing, searching directories, and using telephones.
5. Operate a switchboard or computer keyboard with precision.
Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Minimum of 3 months in hospitality, general office, accounts receivable, or customer service roles.
