Position Summary
The Regional Industrial Engineer (RIE) will collaborate closely with all North American facilities to spearhead initiatives aimed at supporting Sun Gro's growth, modernization, standardization, and enhancement strategies. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic change leader, capable of working effectively with employees across various educational backgrounds and skill sets. This role will require frequent travel to Sun Gro facilities in designated states, engaging with teams to identify and implement impactful projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, manage, and execute improvement initiatives within the assigned region.
- Collaborate with plant management to assess, implement, and oversee capital projects.
- Ensure capital project expenditures are managed effectively, meeting timelines and budgetary constraints.
- Design and draft layouts for equipment, materials, and workspaces to optimize efficiency.
- Analyze budgets, production schedules, and engineering specifications to gain insights into manufacturing processes.
- Facilitate the implementation of a standardized CMMS program across all Sun Gro locations, including data development and analysis.
- Utilize continuous improvement and lean manufacturing methodologies within the Sun Gro Operations Model for Excellence (SOME).
- Employ statistical techniques and perform calculations to evaluate manufacturing processes and staffing needs.
- Engage with plant personnel to map processes and identify opportunities for capacity enhancement and cost reduction.
- Consult with vendors and management regarding purchases, procedures, and project status.
- Communicate effectively with operators and management to establish production and design standards.
- Develop methods for labor utilization and cost analysis to enhance operational efficiency.
- Recommend and implement strategies for optimizing the use of personnel, materials, and utilities.
- Plan and coordinate operations from harvesting through processing and shipping to maximize asset utilization.
- Perform additional duties as required by the business.
Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering is preferred.
- PMP certification is a plus.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in a fast-paced, high-mix manufacturing environment.
- Experience managing projects with budgets exceeding $1M.
- Hands-on approach with a proactive attitude towards project completion.
- Proficiency in 2D and 3D modeling software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
- Experience with PLCs and electrical systems is advantageous.
- Proven track record as a change manager, effectively gaining employee buy-in for process modifications.
- Strong communication skills, both concise and adaptable.
- Ability to connect process improvements to positive financial outcomes.
- Collaborative mindset, capable of working with cross-functional teams to address complex challenges.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to simplify complex issues and solutions.
- Willingness to travel up to 75% within the region and occasionally to other areas for project support.
- Physical capability to lift up to 25Kg as required.
- Possession of a full, clean driver's license is mandatory.

- Willingness to reside in the assigned area as necessary.
- Ability to travel both domestically and internationally.
