MRI Imaging Specialist

MedStar Health is seeking a skilled MRI Technologist to perform diagnostic Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) examinations according to established imaging protocols. The ideal candidate will provide efficient and effective patient care in high-quality diagnostic MRI examinations, while delivering exceptional customer service and adhering to Hospital and organization values.
As a key member of the Radiology team, the MRI Technologist will conduct patient interviews to identify contraindicated implants, foreign bodies, and other medical conditions of concern. They will also identify and perform appropriate examinations based on patient history, verify prescriptions and protocols, and use appropriate imaging parameters.
The successful candidate will have an Associate degree or formal training in an American Medical Association accredited school of Radiologic Technology/Magnetic Resonance Imaging, as well as job-related experience and/or successful completion of a formal MRI educational training program. They will also be required to complete the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) MRI examination or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) examination within one year of date of hire.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct patient interviews to identify contraindicated implants, foreign bodies, and other medical conditions of concern.
- Identify and perform appropriate examinations based on patient history.
- Verify prescriptions and protocols, and use appropriate imaging parameters.
- Inject contrast based on patient weight after verifying the patient's renal function status.
- Verify image quality prior to ending the examination.
- Document examination and verify the examination is correct in both Cerner, PACS, Pen Rad, and Dyna CAD (when applicable).
- Assist in organizing and maintaining inventory of supplies.
- Ensure the work area is maintained at a high state of cleanliness.
- Promptly prepare films and CDs upon request.
- Assist with protocol development and training of new personnel and Radiology School students regarding procedures, imaging protocols, and department policy.
- Collect quality control data for manager, such as film usage, equipment problems, etc.
- Complete all required information system functions to assure proper patient information, billing, examination, and other necessary functions.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree or formal training in an American Medical Association accredited school of Radiologic Technology/Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
- Job-related experience and/or successful completion of a formal MRI educational training program.
- Successful completion of either the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) MRI examination or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) examination within one year of date of hire.
- BLS (Basic Life Support).
