Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director to join our team at Paramount Pictures. As a key member of our literary affairs department, you will play a crucial role in identifying and acquiring literary properties for film development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Sourcing: Source, track, and evaluate literary material across various publishing stages, including books, articles, graphic novels, and short stories.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Generate regular reports to inform executives about source material in the marketplace and identify titles that match their development needs.
  • Relationship Building: Establish and maintain relationships with literary agents, editors, and book-to-film agents to stay informed about market trends and potential acquisition opportunities.
  • Acquisition Support: Assist Paramount Pictures in acquiring the dramatic rights to source material, working closely with producers and other stakeholders to ensure successful project development.
  • Infrastructure Development: Establish and maintain systems, databases, and department infrastructure to support efficient and effective literary acquisition and development processes.
Requirements
  • Experience: 7+ years of experience in film and/or foreign scouting, with a proven track record of identifying unique material and developing successful projects.
  • Skills: Strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to articulate material and ideas effectively with all levels of management.
  • Qualifications: Self-starter with the ability to work autonomously, critical thinker with attention to detail, and ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as English, Film, or Communications.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program, and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
