Pediatric Hospital Medicine Physician Position

The Children's Hospital of Richmond at Virginia Commonwealth University is currently seeking an academic faculty member for the Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine.

  • Teaching: Provide education to medical students, residents, and fellows as applicable, and to ancillary staff as needed.
  • Service: Serve on hospital or departmental committees when appropriate, and engage in professional activities through journal review, conference presentations, and national organization committee work.
  • Clinical: Provide clinical service as a Pediatric Hospitalist for the Department of Pediatrics of CHoR based at CHoR, working the requisite number of evenings, nights, weekends, and taking call as designated by the Chief of the Division.
  • Administrative: Take on administrative duties associated with this role, including engagement in CHoR and VCUH Pediatric Committees, coordination of resources with Pediatric Nursing, Pediatric Specialists, Pediatric Surgeons, and ancillary staff as needed, collaboration with the Director of Pediatric Hospital Medicine at CHoR to align clinical services of CHoR at VCU, and collaboration with the Director of Pediatric Hospital Medicine at CHoR to align academic missions with ACGME and ACGME learners within CHoR at VCU.

Required Qualifications:

  • Eligibility for medical licensure in Virginia
  • Drug Enforcement Agency licensure
  • Credentialing at VCUH
  • Certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Demonstrated experience working in, collaborating, and fostering a diverse staff, residents, and students through an engaged and emotionally safe approach
  • Board certification in pediatrics or internal medicine-pediatrics

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two or more years of clinical experience in pediatric hospital medicine
  • Completion of Pediatric Fellowship training is preferred but not required
  • Tracking toward Board Eligibility/Board Certification in Pediatric Hospital Medicine by 2023
  • Current board certification in pediatric hospital medicine is preferred but not required
  • Prior leadership experience or program development in pediatric hospital medicine
  • Prior quality improvement initiative development
