About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Banquet Captain to join our team at Ameristar. As a Banquet Captain, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth execution of banquets and events, providing exceptional customer service, and leading a team of banquet staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Event Planning and Execution: Obtain and review banquet event orders, learn names of banquet servers, bartenders, and housepersons, and ensure that the banquet room is clean and fully equipped.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and train banquet staff, and lead banquet events in the absence of the banquet manager and banquet coordinator.
  • Customer Service: Greet event contacts by name, offer assistance with guest or special setup needs, and ensure that servers use correct seat designation numbers to serve correct entre to each guest.
  • Financial Management: Prepare and submit banquet checks and bills in an accurate and timely manner, and process cash and paperwork per established protocols.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent, or two (2) years of banquet service experience.
  • Experience: Previous food and beverage experience required.
  • Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in English grammar and proper word usage, ability to anticipate problems and use sound judgment and tact in handling guests' confidential matters, excellent communication skills, strong customer service skills, and ability to work effectively with independence and as part of a team.
