Job Summary

The Medical Assistant I Certified provides clinical and administrative support to healthcare teams in an outpatient setting. This role requires certification and prior experience in medical assisting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect patient data, including vital signs and medical history.
  • Assist providers with treatments, examinations, and procedures.
  • Collect specimens and perform phlebotomy.
  • Administer medications under provider direction.
  • Perform tests, such as EKGs and eye exams, under provider direction.
  • Review patient records for routine health screenings.
  • Prepare and maintain exam and treatment rooms.
  • Assist with patient registration, scheduling, and referrals.
  • Answer clinic phone and assist with in-basket tasks.
Requirements
  • Medical Assistant certification from a recognized organization.
  • Basic Life Support Certification from AHA or ARC.
  • Prior medical assisting experience preferred.
Work Environment

This position is employed by UNC Health, a private subsidiary of UNC Health Care System. The work environment is an outpatient clinic setting with a diverse team of healthcare professionals.
