Job Summary

The Medical Assistant I Certified provides clinical and administrative support to healthcare teams in an outpatient setting. This role requires a strong foundation in medical assisting principles and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine clinical tasks, including vital sign collection, patient data collection, and specimen collection.
  • Assist providers with treatments, examinations, and procedures.
  • Administer medications under the direction of a provider.
  • Perform tests, such as EKGs and eye exams, under the direction of a provider.
  • Review patient records to determine necessary health screenings.
  • Ensure exam and treatment rooms are stocked and prepared for patient visits.
  • Provide patient education and instructions as directed.
  • Assist with patient registration, scheduling, and referrals.
  • Answer clinic phones and assist with in-basket tasks.
Requirements
  • Medical Assistant certification by a recognized organization.
  • Basic Life Support Certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions, including effective communication and teamwork.
Work Environment

This role is employed by UNC Health, a private, fully-owned subsidiary of UNC Health Care System. The position is exempt from overtime and requires a full-time schedule with 40 hours per week.
