We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant I, Certified to provide routine clinical and administrative support to providers and other healthcare team members in an outpatient clinic setting.
Key Responsibilities- Perform rooming and intake process, collecting and documenting patient data, including vital signs, height, weight, and medical history.
- Collect patient and family data, including medical and social history.
- Review patient's current medication list, allergies, and preferred pharmacy.
- Assist providers as directed during treatments, examinations, and procedures.
- Collect specimens and perform phlebotomy.
- Administer medications under the direction of a provider.
- Perform tests, such as EKG and eye exams, under the direction of a provider.
- Review patient records to determine whether patients require routine health screenings.
- Ensure exam and treatment rooms are stocked with necessary supplies, equipment, and educational materials.
- Provide patients with after-visit instructions and educational materials as directed.
- Prepare, clean, and maintain exam and treatment rooms.
- Clean and sterilize instruments.
- Assist with patient registration, check-in/check-out, appointment scheduling, and scheduling of tests and treatments.
- Answer clinic telephone and assist with in-basket tasks under the direction of a provider or nurse.
- Assist in emergency situations as directed by a provider or nurse.
- Medical Assistant certification by a recognized organization, such as the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or American Medical Technologists (AMT).
- Basic Life Support Certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).
- Prior medical assistant or medical assistant externship experience preferred.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, including effective communication and interpersonal skills.
