We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant II Certified to join our team at UNC Health. As a Medical Assistant II Certified, you will provide routine clinical and administrative support to providers and other healthcare team members in an outpatient clinic setting.
Key Responsibilities- Perform rooming and intake processes, collecting and documenting patient data, including vital signs, height, weight, and relevant medical history.
- Collect patient and family data, including medical and social history, and review current medication lists, allergies, and preferred pharmacies.
- Assist providers as directed during treatments, examinations, and procedures, and collect specimens and perform phlebotomy as needed.
- Administer medications under the direction of a provider and perform tests, such as EKGs and eye exams, under their supervision.
- Review patient records to determine routine health screenings and ensure exam and treatment rooms are stocked with necessary supplies and equipment.
- Provide patients with after-visit instructions and educational materials as directed, and assist with patient registration, check-in, and appointment scheduling.
- Answer clinic telephones and assist with in-basket tasks under the direction of a provider or nurse, and assist in emergency situations as needed.
- High school diploma or GED required; completion of a Medical Assisting program accredited by CAAHEP or ABHES is strongly preferred.
- Medical Assistant certification by AAMA, AMT, CCMA, NRCMA, or NCMA required; Basic Life Support Certification from American Heart Association also required.
- Possess at least one year of full-time experience as a Credentialed Medical Assistant and demonstrate possession of the competencies outlined in the Credentialed Medical Assistant Advancement Worksheet.
