The Growth Data Science Team

The Growth Data Science team at Stripe is responsible for driving business growth through data-driven decision making. This team works closely with Marketing, Sales, and Self-Serve Product teams to develop intelligent data products and insights that inform go-to-market strategies and drive product discovery, adoption, and retention.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive the roadmap and priorities for the data science team, collaborating with Stripe leaders to enhance the company's data-driven decision making capabilities.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization, including engineering, analytics, operations, finance, and marketing, to ensure seamless data-driven decision making.
  • Lead and manage processes to help the data science team excel, engaging effectively with the rest of Stripe.
  • Manage a high-performing team of data scientists, supporting them to achieve technical excellence and advance in their careers.
  • Recruit and onboard great data scientists, in collaboration with Stripe's recruiting team.
  • Contribute to broad data science initiatives as a member of Stripe's data science management team.
Requirements
  • At least 3 years of direct management experience leading data science and ML teams, and 10 years of overall data science experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing metrics and guiding business decisions with data.
  • Technical expertise to drive clarity with staff and senior scientists about architecture and strategic modeling decisions.
  • Hands-on experience with challenging problems, managing teams that have built and shipped machine learning systems and data products at scale.
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to think rigorously and make hard decisions and tradeoffs.
  • Clear and persuasive communication skills in writing and verbally.
  • A high level of autonomy and responsibility, with a passion for fostering a healthy, inclusive, challenging, and supportive work environment.
