Job Title: Vice Chair of Family Medicine Education

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Family Medicine Physician to serve as the Vice Chair of Family Medicine Education. This is a unique opportunity to join our team and contribute to the development of our medical education programs.

Job Summary:

The Vice Chair of Family Medicine Education will be responsible for the management and administration of our department's Family Medicine medical education team. This includes teaching, service, and scholarship across the full spectrum of our medical education to include pipeline, UME, GME, and faculty development.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage and administer the department's Family Medicine medical education team.
  • Advise the Department Chair on educational priorities, funding needs, clinician-educator recruitment, and infrastructure support for educational programs.
  • Be an active participant in the Department's research and scholarship programs, including serving as a mentor and co-author for faculty with specific interests in medical education scholarship.
  • Ensure oversight so that all education programs meet and exceed compliance standards and policies, including accreditation standards and fostering trainee safety/well-being.
Requirements:
  • At least 5 years of experience practicing clinically as a Family Medicine Physician.
  • Be licensed to practice clinically in the Commonwealth of Virginia or the ability to obtain a license.
  • Experience appropriate for appointment at the Associate Professor level or higher.
  • The applicant must have demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with medical education innovation and/or the development of new medical education programming.
  • A history of providing care to underserved populations across multiple settings.
