Job Summary

We are seeking an exceptional academic psychiatrist to serve as our inaugural Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs and Programmatic Implementation, as well as Division Chief and Medical Director of the Adult Ambulatory Division. This leader will be responsible for building and growing clinical, research, and academic programs of excellence, innovating, and fostering collaborative relationships between the department and our clinical partners, the community we serve, and the academic medical center.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for clinical, research, and academic programs
  • Build and grow clinical, research, and academic programs of excellence
  • Foster collaborative relationships between the department and our clinical partners, the community we serve, and the academic medical center
  • Oversee the operation and growth of the Department of Psychiatry ambulatory division and clinical services
  • Develop programs in subspecialty outpatient clinics and primary care practices
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the Division's clinical organization and implement changes as necessary
  • Participate in clinical teaching and research as applicable
Requirements
  • MD/DO or equivalent Medical Degree
  • Clinical Training in Psychiatry and certification through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology
  • Virginia state medical licensure or eligibility
  • Demonstrated academic and clinical leadership experience in a psychiatry program at a major academic healthcare organization
  • Leadership experience should include clinical practice oversight, strategic planning, direct faculty/provider oversight, and managing staffing and recruitment, and fostering of clinical research
  • Proven background in clinical care optimization, quality, safety, and patient engagement
  • Academic credentials and experience to qualify for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor at VCU School of Medicine
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment
