Safety and Environmental Compliance Manager

Our organization is in search of a skilled professional to assume the role of Safety and Environmental Compliance Manager. This full-time position entails overseeing and documenting comprehensive safety, health, and environmental policies across the organization. The selected candidate will ensure adherence to local, state, federal, and international regulations related to safety, health, and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities:

· Maintain vigilance regarding environmental hazards and guarantee compliance throughout the organization.

· Lead initiatives aimed at continuous improvement within the company.

· Oversee the investigation of accidents and incidents, implementing corrective actions as necessary.

· Act as the primary auditor and designated representative.

· Ensure proper documentation of training in accordance with OSHA and USCG/ABS regulations, while maintaining compliance with governmental standards and internal safety protocols.

· Provide guidance and training to all managers, supervisors, and team members on safety regulations and best practices mandated by local, state, and federal authorities.

· Review existing and prospective equipment purchases to ensure compliance with safety regulations.

· Evaluate risks and identify potential hazards in the workplace to foster a safe and healthy environment.

· Possess knowledge of safety systems and marine operations.

· Organize and complete necessary permits related to health and safety, including environmental and fire safety permits.

· Offer corporate oversight of global Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) and Risk Management policies.

· Experience with management of change systems is preferred.

Qualifications:

· A bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Health, and Safety or a related field, with a minimum of five years of relevant experience.

· Must possess or be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card.

· A valid driver’s license is required or the ability to obtain one.

· Certification as a CET/CSP is advantageous.

· Familiarity with EPA, OSHA, NYS DEC, USCG, SOLAS, ABS, and IMO regulations is essential.

· Understanding of safety regulations and potential hazards in the marine sector.

· Experience in Offshore Wind projects is a plus.

· Certification as a CPR First Aid and AED trainer is preferred.

· Training in OSHA (10hr/30hr) /Maritime and Hazwoper is beneficial.

· Candidates should demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, including effective written and verbal communication abilities. An outgoing personality is essential for engaging with all levels of the organization.

· Participate in the investigation of incidents and near misses, ensuring thorough follow-up to mitigate future risks and maintain accurate records.

· Exhibit strong leadership capabilities, with the ability to influence senior management across various business units.

· Proficient in computer applications, including email, internet, Access, Word, and Excel.

· Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time is required.

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, depending on project needs.

· Capability to bend, rotate, and reach frequently.

· Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials weighing at least 25 lbs.

· Safe ascending and descending of stairs or ladders.

· Ability to manipulate and handle materials necessary for job performance.

· Must be able to navigate through confined spaces on vessels as required.

· Capable of performing emergency duties as outlined in the vessel's station bill.
