Position Overview: Gleason Works is seeking a dedicated Safety Manager to oversee our environmental health initiatives. This role is pivotal in ensuring compliance with ISO 14001 standards and local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the Management Representative for the ISO 14001 Environmental System, including the preparation and submission of regulatory reports.
- Develop, implement, and maintain company policies and procedures that align with environmental regulations.
- Monitor changes in environmental laws and regulations to ensure organizational compliance.
- Evaluate environmental risks associated with operational activities and provide guidance to mitigate impacts.
- Oversee the Hazardous Waste program, including waste characterization and compliance documentation.
- Participate in Gleason's global environmental team to promote continuous improvement.
- Manage air registration and sewer permits, maintaining communication with regulatory agencies.
- Foster a culture of safety by collaborating with employees and leading the safety committee.
- Conduct incident investigations and recommend ergonomic improvements to reduce workplace stress.
- Ensure safety and environmental reviews of all chemicals used within the organization.
- Facilitate training programs and maintain compliance records as required by regulatory bodies.
- Analyze incident data to identify root causes and develop action plans to enhance safety performance.
- Maintain OSHA logs and develop Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) for various manufacturing areas.
- Collaborate with facilities management to update emergency response procedures.
- Conduct ergonomic assessments and propose solutions to minimize risk factors.
- Coordinate training for the Emergency Response Team and maintain relationships with local emergency response organizations.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in safety and environmental compliance.
- Comprehensive knowledge of safety and environmental laws and practices.
- Demonstrated success in improving safety performance within an industrial manufacturing setting.
- Experience in implementing innovative safety solutions across an organization.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Familiarity with hazardous substances and environmental regulations, including ISO 14001.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience in developing and delivering training programs for employees at all levels.
- Bachelor's degree in Safety Science, Industrial Engineering, or Environmental Engineering.
- 5-7 years of relevant experience in industrial manufacturing facilities management.
