Job Summary

The Special Imaging Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Management team in the supervision, planning, organizing and improvement of work processes in Radiology services. This includes Diagnostic Radiology/Interoperative, CT, MRI, US, IR or Nuclear Medicine as instructed by the Director and/or Radiologist.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate the delivery of imaging services to ensure high-quality exams are performed in a timely and cost-efficient manner.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels, supplies, and resources are available to meet clinical demands.
  • Interview, counsel, and complete performance evaluations for staff members.
  • Train new staff and ensure all registrations and certifications are current and up-to-date.
  • Partner with the management team and staff to conduct multidisciplinary staff meetings to ensure consistent and timely communication throughout the departments.
  • Facilitate goal setting for staff working in the imaging sections and monitor goals, achievements, and ensure the outcome of the goals is reflected in the annual performance evaluations.
  • Encourage employees to participate in Employee Satisfaction Surveys, Patient Safety surveys, and other activities providing service feedback results to staff.
  • Initiate a plan of action related to areas of improvement.
  • Partner with Management to develop a budget for the department, including providing feedback on new and replacement equipment and services needed for continued growth.
  • Monitor operational budgets and implement corrective action plans for negative productivity and operating expense variances.
  • Promote a culture of service excellence in the imaging sections by partnering with management to communicate service excellence and patient-centeredness expectations, and customer satisfaction survey results.
  • Hold self and staff accountable for service excellence in their areas of responsibility and facilitate reward and recognition in the imaging sections of Radiology.
  • Act as a Radiology liaison to other departments, developing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with physicians and other medical departments to gather and exchange information, develop and implement solutions to problems.
  • Assist in ensuring the imaging sections are compliant with The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), the Texas Department of Health (TDH) standards, and other accrediting bodies.
Requirements
  • 3 years of experience in a related field.
  • Certification in a relevant area, such as ARRT or ARDMS.
  • Ability to perform high-quality advanced imaging procedures according to exam protocol and in compliance with established System and regulatory standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain a calm and helpful attitude, even under times of stress, and take appropriate and reasonable steps to resolve issues.
  • Ability to ensure customer satisfaction by limiting wait times, providing courteous service, remaining professional, reviewing patient satisfaction performance, and developing action plans when required.
  • Ability to serve as a preceptor by providing quality training to new team members and on new services and initiatives.
  • Ability to make tactical options around the allocation and direction of the work of supervised employees using established guidelines, policies, and/or procedures.
  • Ability to make effective hiring and termination recommendations.
  • Ability to train and evaluate performance of supervised staff.
