Job Summary

The Special Imaging Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Management team in the supervision, planning, organizing, and improvement of work processes in Radiology services. This includes Diagnostic Radiology, Interoperative, CT, MRI, US, IR, or Nuclear Medicine. The supervisor performs department orientation, teaches, coaches, supervises staff, and performs imaging exams in the modalities they supervise.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversees the delivery and quality of imaging services, ensuring compliance with established System and regulatory standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Performs procedures as needed due to workload or complexity.
  • Ensures adequate staffing levels, supplies, and resources are available to perform exams and clinical services.
  • Interviews, counsels, and completes performance evaluations.
  • Trains new staff and ensures all registrations and certifications are current, on file, and up to date.
  • Partners with the management team and staff to conduct multidisciplinary staff meetings.
  • Facilitates goal setting for staff working in the imaging sections.
  • Monitors goals, achievements, and ensures the outcome of the goals is reflected in the annual performance evaluations.
  • Encourages employees to participate in Employee Satisfaction Surveys and Patient Safety surveys.
  • Initiates a plan of action related to areas of improvement.
  • Partners with Management to develop a budget for the department.
  • Promotes a culture of service excellence in the imaging sections.
  • Acts as a Radiology liaison to other departments.
  • Develops and maintains cooperative working relationships with physicians and other medical departments.
  • Assists in ensuring the imaging sections are compliant with The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and other accrediting bodies.
Requirements
  • 3 years of experience in a related field.
  • Certification in a relevant modality (e.g., ARRT, ARDMS).
  • Ability to perform high-quality advanced imaging procedures according to exam protocol and in compliance with established System and regulatory standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain a calm and helpful attitude, even under times of stress.
  • Ability to ensure customer satisfaction by limiting wait times and providing courteous service.
  • Ability to serve as a preceptor by providing quality training to new team members.
  • Ability to make tactical options around the allocation and direction of the work of supervised employees.
  • Ability to make effective hiring and termination recommendations.
  • Ability to train and evaluate performance of supervised staff.
