POSITION SUMMARY

The Resident Engagement Specialist plays a pivotal role in orchestrating and managing various engagement initiatives tailored to accommodate diverse physical and cognitive requirements. This position emphasizes a harmonious blend of productive, leisure, self-care, restorative, and spiritual activities, all while honoring the individuality and well-being of each resident, in alignment with Orchard Senior Living's esteemed care philosophy.

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum age of 21 years
  • Previous experience in the senior care sector is essential
  • Successful completion of background checks, TB tests, and health screenings
  • Current CPR certification is required
  • A valid driver's license is necessary
  • Completion of a five-hour initial fire safety training course as mandated by the Georgia Safety Fire Commissioner

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitates opportunities for residents to engage in socialization, personal development, physical activity, community involvement, spiritual growth, recreation, and performance enhancement.
  • Implements activity programs designed by the Engagement Director, ensuring a well-rounded mix of activities that cater to cognitive, recreational, and daily living needs.

Activity Categories Include:

  • Cognitive Activities: Arts, crafts, storytelling, poetry, music, reading, discussions, and current events reviews.
  • Recreational Activities: Social games, physical exercises, and encouraged pet therapy.
  • Self-Care Activities: Cleaning, cooking, gardening, and other activities that promote independence and self-worth.

Effectively executes the daily activity calendar.Provides individualized attention to residents opting out of group activities through small group or one-on-one sessions.Reviews residents' medical and social histories to tailor activities to their unique preferences and skills.Encourages family involvement in daily living activities to enhance independence and self-esteem.Trains and guides staff in facilitating engaging activities.Plans quarterly in-house events that foster family connections and social interaction.Develops and distributes a monthly professional newsletter to residents and their families.Oversees and trains staff involved in the community memory care program.Coordinates external entertainment for resident enjoyment.Enlists and manages volunteers to support residents and enhance the overall activities program.Conducts initial activities assessments with new residents and families to identify interests and social needs.Manages budgetary responsibilities related to the activities department.Involved in hiring, training, and supervising engagement assistants and drivers.Leads efforts in decorating and celebrating significant holidays.Ensures that residents of all faiths can celebrate their respective holidays.Maintains a welcoming and organized environment in activity and multipurpose rooms.
