This position is crucial for the innovation, development, and upkeep of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The ideal candidate will engage in technical tasks across diverse project locations and work alongside interdisciplinary teams to guarantee effective project delivery and superior system efficiency.

Role Overview

The Battery Systems Engineer will manage technical functions at project sites, offering engineering assistance through drawings, documentation, and operational guidelines. Responsibilities include monitoring system efficiency, ensuring the dependable functioning of Battery Management Systems (BMS), Energy Management Systems (EMS), Thermal Management Systems (TMS), and Fire Safety Systems (FSS). The role requires the identification and resolution of issues to reduce downtime and improve system performance, participation in design modifications, conducting evaluations, collaborating with various teams, reporting project progress, and aiding field operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage technical operations at project sites, providing engineering support with schematics, documentation, and operational instructions.
  • Oversee system performance, ensuring the reliable operation of Battery Management Systems (BMS), Energy Management Systems (EMS), Thermal Management Systems (TMS), and Fire Safety Systems (FSS).
  • Identify and resolve issues to minimize downtime and enhance system functionality.
  • Engage in design and specification revisions, identifying areas for enhancement.
  • Conduct evaluations, create testing protocols for new applications, and analyze Battery Management hardware.
  • Collaborate with various teams to ensure seamless project execution and client satisfaction.
  • Participate in EMS/BMS designs, ensuring alignment with product specifications.
  • Communicate project updates, risks, and insights to stakeholders and management.
  • Support field operations, training personnel on product commissioning.
  • Generate reports and assessments on product performance, utilizing internal monitoring tools.
  • Propose enhancements to improve efficiency and project results.
  • Troubleshoot and ensure adherence to Fire Safety Systems (FSS) standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in supporting technical projects, including documentation, deliverables, and customer training.
  • At least 1 year of experience with Battery Management Systems (BMS) and Energy Management Systems (EMS).
  • Familiarity with SCADA, Modbus, and networking applications.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, and data analysis is preferred.
  • Ability to interpret and create system designs, single-line diagrams, and block diagrams using AutoCAD, Visio/SmartDraw, Solidworks, and Altium.
  • Experience with mechanical manufacturing processes is advantageous.
  • Strong organizational skills, capable of managing multiple tasks effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, adaptable to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Effective presentation skills, including the creation and delivery of materials.
  • Willingness to manage work across multiple time zones and travel up to 40%, both domestically and internationally.
