Prep Cook at Wonderstate Cafe

Position Overview

The Prep Cook plays a vital role in assisting the Cook and Kitchen Lead to deliver exceptional culinary experiences for our customers. This role requires collaboration with all team members to ensure tasks are executed with efficiency and precision.

Core Responsibilities

  • Independently and efficiently execute food preparation tasks.
  • Collaborate with the Kitchen Lead and Cook to establish a comprehensive prep list.
  • Support the Cook during plating as necessary.
  • Maintain cleanliness by organizing shelves, sanitizing surfaces, and sweeping floors.
  • Manage dish duties in the absence of a dishwasher.
  • Adhere to strict cleanliness and food safety protocols.
  • Comprehend all menu items and their preparation methods.
  • Monitor inventory and communicate necessary orders.
  • Foster positive relationships within the team through respectful feedback and gratitude.
  • Embody the core values of Wonderstate Coffee.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Required Experience

Prior experience as a prep cook or in a kitchen setting is preferred but not mandatory.

Work Environment

  • Weekly schedules may vary.
  • Weekend availability is essential.
  • Participation in quarterly deep cleaning is expected.
  • Involvement in special events or catering may occur occasionally.
  • Attendance at monthly staff meetings is required.
  • Physical demands include bending, sitting, lifting up to 50 lbs, and standing for extended periods.

Other Duties

Responsibilities and tasks may evolve, or new ones may be assigned as needed.

Reports to

Cafe Coordinator, with additional oversight from the Kitchen Lead.

Location

This is a non-exempt position, available as full-time or part-time.
