Job Summary

The Pennsylvania State University is seeking a highly skilled Academic Counselor to join the Morgan Academic Center team. As an Academic Counselor, you will play a critical role in providing academic support and counseling services to student-athletes, ensuring their academic success and eligibility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate academic support and counseling services for assigned football student-athletes, tracking and monitoring their academic progress and eligibility.
  • Communicate student-athlete academic progress to coaching staffs, athletic administration, and the MAC Director.
  • Teach one section of the student-athlete first-year seminar course as part of the Penn State Alumni Association First-Year Enrichment Program.
  • Refer student-athletes to other appropriate University resources as needed.
  • Meet with prospective student-athletes and families throughout the recruiting process.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director and Associate Director, requiring frequent collaboration with the MAC Associate Director, MAC Assistant Director, and numerous University staff supporting students.
  • Evening and weekend hours will be required for study hall programs and recruiting.
Requirements

This job requires a Master's degree in counselor education, college student personnel, psychology, social work, education, higher education administration, or a related discipline, plus one year of related experience. The position must maintain strict adherence to NCAA and Big Ten Conference rules and regulations affecting the sport and the University.
