Job Summary:

The Substitute Para Educator will work under the direction of special education teachers to provide individualized support to students with diverse needs. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to adapt to changing situations and priorities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide instructional support to students with special needs, including one-on-one instruction and small group work.
  • Assist teachers with lesson planning, implementation, and assessment.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and administrators as needed.
  • Support students with behavior management, using positive reinforcement techniques and de-escalation strategies.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement individualized education plans.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by teachers and administrators.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or higher preferred.
  • At least two years of experience working with students with special needs.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and priorities.
Working Conditions:

The Substitute Para Educator will work in a fast-paced educational environment, interacting with students, teachers, and other support staff. The role requires strong physical and mental stamina, as well as the ability to work in a variety of settings, including classrooms, playgrounds, and lunchrooms.
