The Vermont Department of Health Division of Substance Use Programs is seeking a skilled Public Health Analyst I to develop and maintain data collection and reporting mechanisms that support the division's comprehensive public health approach to reduce substance misuse, dependence, and overdose.
This position plays a critical role in supporting critical multi-million-dollar state and federal agreements and the community stakeholders who use the data for decision making, planning, and evaluation.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain data collection and reporting mechanisms to support the division's public health approach
- Collaborate with data users and providers to ensure data accuracy and relevance
- Summarize data and present findings in a clear and concise manner
- Use data visualization tools to communicate complex data insights
A Master's degree or higher in biostatistics, epidemiology, public health, or a social sciences discipline, including 6 credits in statistics at the graduate level, is required. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in statistics, a health-related or social sciences discipline, including 12 college credits in statistics, research, or computer sciences, and 6 of these credits must be in statistics, and one year or more of professional-level work in research, statistics, informatics, or program evaluation where the activities include gathering, analyzing, and interpreting statistical data is also acceptable. An Associate's degree in a public health, health, scientific, or informatics field and two years or more of experience in research, statistics, informatics, or program evaluation where the activities include gathering, analyzing, and interpreting statistical data is also considered.
Preferred QualificationsExperience in public health or a health-related field is preferred.
