Job Summary

The State of Vermont is seeking a highly qualified State Toxicologist to join our team in the Division of Environmental Health. As the State's scientific expert in toxicology, you will oversee a wide breadth of environmental toxicology issues and work with the risk assessor and technical staff to develop health-based levels and communicate guidance for chemicals in air, water, soil, and other media. This is an exciting opportunity to impact environmental toxicology work in Vermont and make a meaningful difference in the lives of our citizens.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement health-based levels for chemicals in air, water, soil, and other media
  • Communicate guidance to stakeholders on toxicology issues
  • Collaborate with the risk assessor and technical staff to develop and implement risk assessment and management strategies
  • Present at community meetings, speak with the media, and testify at the legislature
  • Work with partner agencies and organizations to advance environmental health goals

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in toxicology or a related field
  • Four (4) years or more of experience in public health or a related field, including two (2) years in an environmental health program or related field and two (2) years in toxicology or risk assessment
