The Supplier Quality Engineer will play a critical role in ensuring the quality of components and materials delivered by suppliers. This position will be responsible for selecting and qualifying suppliers, monitoring components throughout the manufacturing cycle, and resolving supplier-related issues. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of quality engineering principles and experience working in a high-tech, high-volume manufacturing environment.

  • Assist in the selection of new suppliers and support buyers in obtaining the best value components in terms of quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Develop and implement Part Quality Planning for new and existing purchased parts as part of the New Product Introduction process.
  • Define quality and technical expectations to suppliers and drive continuous improvement activities using Value Analysis/Kaizen activities, PFMEA, Control Plans, and 8Ds.
  • Investigate supplier-based manufacturing/process/quality issues and issue formal corrective action requests to suppliers.
  • Conduct supplier audits on-site and hold review meetings to ensure compliance with Vicor's quality standards.
  • Serve as the technical liaison between Vicor and its suppliers, reviewing new component PPAP and ensuring quality and technical expectations are met.

The ideal candidate will have a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering and three or more years of experience in a high-tech, high-volume manufacturing environment. They will also possess demonstrated leadership skills, the ability to drive for results, and experience working with automated mechanical inspection equipment. Knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma methodology is a plus, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment is essential.
