Senior Mechanical Engineer

R. T. Patterson Company is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Evansville, Indiana. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical systems and components that meet our clients' needs and requirements.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop mechanical systems and components that meet client requirements.
  • Identify and develop effective solutions to emerging problems.
  • Evaluate the final product's performance, reliability, and safety.
  • Modify designs to meet requirements and eliminate malfunctions.
  • Ensure compliance with client and governmental regulations.
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers on our team and with clients.
  • Create plans and designs using CAD technology.
  • Prepare technical documentation, including product reports and scopes of work.
  • Estimate budgets and time scopes for each project.
  • Supervise a small team of engineers and designers on various mechanical projects.
Requirements:
  • Proven working experience in mechanical engineering.
  • Solid understanding of core concepts, including mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, and materials science.
  • Relevant experience (5-8 years) working in the mechanical engineering field in a heavy industrial setting.
  • Familiarity with die cast machine layout, processes, and operations.
  • Ability to analyze options and relevant test data/results.
  • Highly analytical mind with exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of the latest Mechanical Engineering codes, including ASME, AWS, and NFPA.
  • Ability to clearly document observations and existing field conditions.
  • Proficiency in oral and written communication to share technical knowledge.
  • Creativity and analytical skills.
  • Extensive piping process experience is a plus. Working knowledge of pipe stress analysis software, such as Caesar, is preferred.
  • Superior computer skills, with solid experience in AutoCAD. (3D experience in Inventor preferred)
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Licensed as a professional engineer.
  • Ability to interact with a variety of people from clients/owners to contractors.
  • Self-motivated and responsible.
  • No driver's license restrictions.
  • Ability to walk around client facilities for inspections, meetings, or other work.
  • Ability to travel overnight if needed.
