Job Summary

This is a safety-sensitive position that requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make critical decisions in emergency situations. The E911 Communications Officer I will be responsible for answering incoming emergency and non-emergency calls, determining the nature of the call, and dispatching emergency response units.

Key Responsibilities
  • Answer incoming emergency and non-emergency calls and determine the nature of the call
  • Dispatch emergency response units, including police, fire, and emergency medical services
  • Provide lifesaving and pre-arrival instructions to callers in emergency medical situations
  • Enter information into the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) System and verify and update information regarding repossessed vehicles
  • Use a computer to enter and retrieve data, sort and file records, and assist callers with transactions and information
  • Identify incorrect or outdated information contained in the CAD and complete update forms for changes of street names and/or addresses
  • Testify in Court as the owner of a voice on an E-911 recording and/or as a witness that a call was received
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • One year of work experience that shows an ability to maintain steady employment in any field
  • Ability to obtain Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Certification, GCIC and NCIC Certifications, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification, Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) Certification, and certification on all dispatch consoles within six months of hire
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends, and be willing to work any shift based on operational need
