The Compounding Pharmacy Technician works under the direct oversight of the pharmacist, undertaking essential administrative and customer service responsibilities to ensure client satisfaction.

The ideal candidate for this role is meticulous, capable of managing multiple tasks, and enjoys engaging with customers.

Key Responsibilities:
• Welcome and assist customers with inquiries and services.

• Process prescriptions and collect patient information.
• Prepare compounds in compliance with USP standards.
• Manage inventory by organizing and checking medications and chemicals.
• Perform counting, pouring, mixing, weighing, labeling, and sealing tasks.
• Understand both Sterile and Non-Sterile Compounding as per USP guidelines.
• Maintain various logs including:

Freezer, balance calibrations, sterile hood, humidity, filter logs, environmental monitoring logs, and temperature logs.

• Utilize computer systems for patient, doctor, and medication data management.
• Fill prescriptions, process orders, and label medications.
• Handle phone inquiries and communicate with healthcare providers for prescription refills and clarifications.

• Manage incoming prescriptions from healthcare providers as directed by the pharmacist.
• Contact insurance companies as necessary for prescription orders.
• Oversee the checking of Rx orders, addressing any discrepancies or issues.

• Conduct inventory checks, ensuring shelves are organized and monitoring for expired items.

• File and maintain daily records of filled prescriptions.
• Process and file invoices accurately.
• Check in controlled substances and complete required documentation.
• Return unclaimed prescriptions to stock after a designated period, ensuring proper crediting of insurance and patient records.
• Process third-party checks and maintain accurate records.
• Ensure the computer system is clean and organized by removing duplicate files and outdated information.
