Job Overview:

The Credit Risk Analyst I/II/III plays a crucial role in assisting Wholesale bankers and Credit Risk Managers in evaluating client credit risks and analyzing industry trends. This position involves conducting comprehensive credit assessments based on borrower information, publicly accessible data, and an evaluation of the client's financial capabilities across various products in accordance with established credit standards. Adherence to internal policies, regulatory requirements, and the pursuit of continuous improvement in processes are essential components of this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate closely with bankers and Credit Risk Managers to evaluate client credit risks and industry trends.
  2. Conduct detailed analyses of client financial statements, including historical and projected performance, business plans, and capital structures.
  3. Prepare periodic servicing reviews and engage in the risk rating verification process.
  4. Assist in timely covenant compliance reviews and analyses, ensuring the receipt of current financial statements.
  5. Complete financial spreads and ensure the accurate upload of statements to internal systems.
  6. Analyze traditional commercial lending, commercial real estate lending, leveraged financing, and cash flow lending as relevant to assignments.
  7. Ensure compliance with regulatory and company guidelines throughout all transactions.
  8. Prepare documentation for loan discussions, approvals, and committee presentations in conjunction with Credit Risk Managers.
  9. Support bankers with complex client accounts and assist in identifying credit-worthy prospects during the cross-selling process.
  10. Engage in various developmental assignments under the guidance of senior staff and contribute to innovation and efficiency improvements.

Each team member is expected to be vigilant regarding risks within their functional area, adhering to all relevant policies, procedures, laws, and regulations. Any known or suspected violations should be reported promptly to the appropriate authority.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience: At least one year of experience as a Wholesale Credit Risk Analyst, completion of Synovus' Accelerated Banker program, or two years of credit analysis experience.

Required Skills:

  • Strong analytical and quantitative abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly advanced Excel modeling skills.
