Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Health Information Specialist II to join our team at Community Health of South Dade, Inc. This role is responsible for managing health information data to ensure quality, accuracy, accessibility, and security. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in health information management, electronic health records, and medical terminology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Retrieve and manage patient information from records as requested by mail, fax, or walk-in
  • Handle faxes of protected health information (PHI) with confidentiality and respect
  • Compile data for monthly HIM reports and participate in active training of the EHR system
  • Participate in team leadership and demonstrate a positive, supportive attitude
  • Purge and prepare medical records for archiving and retrieval
  • Maintain database systems in EHR for labs and quality measures
  • Sort and scan medical record paperwork and ancillary reports
  • Verify patient information and import images into EHR
  • Retrieve information from patient records and task documents to doctors for viewing and signatures
  • Adhere to organizational and department policies and procedures
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and participate in continuous performance improvement activities
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent with a minimum of one year of college degree or two years of experience in Health Information Management
  • Maintain current CPR certification from the American Heart Association
  • Knowledge and experience with Electronic Health Record systems, terminal digit filing, and medical terminology
  • Ability to work independently and type 30 WPM
