Job Summary

The University of the District of Columbia is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Human Resources Assistant to provide professional human resources services and consultation to assigned operating units of the University.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process and review a variety of personnel actions for the offices and units through HRIS systems, ensuring the accuracy of the transaction.
  • Serve as the in-house records manager, responsible for the accuracy and completeness of official personnel files and other documents in hard copy and digital format.
  • Prepare verification of employment requests and maintain a tracking and filing system for retrieval ease.
  • Provide administrative support to assigned units, respond to and conduct research in response to employment and payroll requests, and support periodic audits.
  • Provide exceptional customer services to support all UDC employees in accordance with established policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Maintain knowledge of HR-related trends, legal changes, past practices, and emerging practices.
  • Answer inquiries from managers and employees on matters pertaining to assigned areas and refer inquiries that are beyond the incumbent's knowledge to the appropriate units and team members.
  • Assist in special projects or programs of a varied and complex nature.
  • Assist in the University's recruitment and placement services as needed.
Requirements
  • Associate degree from an accredited college or university; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Three (3) years of progressive human resources experience.
  • Two years of customer service experience.
  • Experience with HRIS systems and payroll; Proficient with MS Office Suite and other available technologies.
