Position Overview:
The Department of Surgery is actively seeking a dedicated full-time, non-tenure research track faculty member at the academic rank of Research Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. This role is integral to our dynamic team of clinical and basic science professionals within the Division of Vascular Surgery. The selected candidate will engage in pioneering research focused on the causes and treatment of aortic aneurysms.
Key Responsibilities:
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
1. Conducting advanced research utilizing small animal survival surgery techniques.
2. Implementing immunohistochemistry, RNA and DNA processing, PCR, microscopy, flow cytometry, and immunoassays.
3. Designing experimental frameworks and overseeing the presentation and publication of research outcomes.
The Department of Surgery is recognized nationally for its high level of NIH funding, ranking fourth in the country.
Work Environment:
The Health Science Center is situated on a vibrant campus, fostering collaboration with various colleges including Pharmacy, Nursing, Public Health, Veterinary Medicine, Engineering, and Liberal Arts and Sciences.
Compensation:
Salary will be determined based on the candidate's education and experience.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
Applicants must possess an advanced degree (PhD, MD, Sc.D. or equivalent) and demonstrate a successful track record in securing extramural funding for research (NIH or equivalent). Completion of a postdoctoral training program is also required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates who exhibit strong leadership capabilities, advanced surgical expertise in murine abdominal aortic aneurysms, and a proven history of collaboration with both basic science and clinical faculty. Advanced knowledge in immunology and vascular biology is highly desirable.
