About the RoleAs a Family Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing parenting education and support to families through our Healthy Families program. This home visiting program is designed to empower parents to create a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment for their children.
You will work closely with the Healthy Families Supervisor and travel to community-based locations to provide services to families. Your responsibilities will include:
- Establishing positive and professional relationships with families and providing services in their home.
- Utilizing evidence-based curricula and support materials to educate families on positive parent-child interaction and child development.
- Modeling and demonstrating problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Assisting families in becoming more discerning consumers of community services and making referrals as needed.
- Participating in the development of a service plan for each family.
- Ensuring that families have identified a primary healthcare provider and are receiving essential medical services.
- Performing duties associated with special program services, such as FRC and special events.
- Completing assigned paperwork as required.
- Performing other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A High School Diploma.
- Two years of work experience in human services.
- Experience with parenting education and/or early childhood development, preferred.
- A valid NYS driver's license, safe driving record, and access to a vehicle for full-time business use.
