Position Summary

We are in search of skilled energy program managers with a strong technical background to join our advisory team supporting the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU). The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge in battery technologies and will provide both technical expertise and programmatic support in various energy sectors relevant to defense and intelligence applications. A solid foundation in engineering or scientific disciplines is essential. This role involves collaboration with teams of engineers, scientists, and programmers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate teams in the planning, execution, and oversight of projects aimed at integrating innovative commercial energy solutions into Department of Defense (DoD) challenges, ensuring value delivery to end users within tight timelines.
  • Offer specialized knowledge in battery technologies to assist in prototype initiatives across diverse technological fields associated with operational energy and energy resilience.
  • Identify and curate DoD challenges that can be addressed through commercial solutions, leading acquisition and funding strategies in collaboration with various stakeholders.
  • Engage in outreach and partnership efforts with commercial entities, academic institutions, and other non-traditional vendors, as well as DoD program offices and technical experts.
  • Utilize knowledge of DoD technology acquisition processes and best practices from the commercial sector.
  • Manage relationships among DoD stakeholders, innovation ecosystems, and commercial partners to ensure successful program execution.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Active TS clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI.
  • Educational background in engineering, science, or business.
  • A minimum of 12 years of experience with a Master's Degree in a technical or engineering field, or 15 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Certifications in pertinent technical or management fields.
  • Established knowledge of battery supply chains and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with the DoD contracting process and familiarity with the Federal Acquisition Regulation.

Preferred:

  • Previous military experience that enables the candidate to define requirements and curate challenges with military end users.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously within a matrixed organization.
  • Experience in developing and executing R&D prototypes for government clients.
  • History of supporting and leading collaborative teams in government and commercial environments to efficiently deliver project objectives.

Compensation Information

This position's compensation range is typical based on experience, location, and other relevant factors.
