Database Engineering Lead

Target is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Database Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Database Engineering team, you will be responsible for setting the strategy for software development and infrastructure engineering at Target.
About the Role:- Lead and approve software and infrastructure engineering efforts to meet functional and non-functional requirements.
- Set the direction for how software and infrastructure engineering efforts will be designed, developed, and operationalized across the Enterprise.
- Be a thought leader and mentor for internal and external technical talent and actively contribute to the external technical community.
- Have demonstrated experience building highly scalable, volume-centric platform services in Hybrid Cloud.
- Set the strategy and direction for database platform services to be defined and designed for the Enterprise and drive adoption across the Tech organization.
- 4+ years of experience in strategic planning and setting technical direction.
- Strong understanding of systems programming and control languages.
- Extensive experience in system design and building new systems.
- Proven track record in writing efficient and fault-tolerant code.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills.
- Experience in Java/J2EE, SQL/no-SQL databases, Python, Chef, Kubernetes containers, Cloud tech.
- Proficiency in at least one of the following languages: Java, Python.
