As a Senior Process Engineer at Lam Research, you will engage with state-of-the-art technology, leveraging atomic precision, material science, and surface engineering to advance technical frontiers. Your responsibilities will include crafting new and sophisticated process formulations, specifying equipment hardware to fulfill processing needs, analyzing test results, and coordinating design specifications to ensure the compatibility of processing techniques. Your expertise is vital to our customers' achievements, influencing the future of semiconductor innovations.

In this position, you will be a key player in The Deposition Group.

Your Responsibilities
  • Conduct research, development, and evaluation in process engineering to support Lam's advanced semiconductor equipment and systems.
  • Assess and refine processing techniques and methodologies utilized in the production and fabrication of products.
  • Establish and maintain new processes and enhancements to minimize production costs and maximize yields.
  • Gather and interpret test data to define subsequent steps in process development and establish suitable limits and variables for process specifications.
  • Collaborate internally to strategize, collect data, analyze outcomes, and report on customer demonstrations for current process applications.
  • Work cross-functionally and with clients to comprehend roadmaps, process flows, critical points, requirements, and business challenges.
  • Contribute to the development and launch of next-generation products supporting the semiconductor roadmap.
  • Provide leadership, clear direction, and mentorship to process technicians to facilitate execution activities.
  • Lead initiatives involving the selection of innovative concepts and strategies for process development.
  • Engage closely with customers to introduce and promote the adoption of new technologies at their sites.
Ideal Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or a related discipline with 12+ years of experience; or a PhD with 8+ years of experience; or equivalent expertise.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience in laboratory settings and with semiconductor equipment, particularly in surface preparation and analytical techniques.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and/or Design of Experiments (DOE).
  • Proficient in MATLAB, Python, or similar scientific computing languages.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Experience with statistical tools (JMP, Minitab, etc.).
  • Background in Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD), Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD), Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition (PECVD), or Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD).
  • Knowledge of Plasma Physics, Reactive Ion Etching (RIE), Atomic Layer Etching (ALE), Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP), and Capacitively Coupled Plasma (CCP).
  • Understanding of material synthesis and characterization techniques.
  • Experience working in a collaborative, matrixed environment with diverse teams, semiconductor clients, and/or partners.
  • Experience in semiconductor processes, design, deposition, etching dielectrics or conductors, metal films, etc.
