As a Senior Process Engineer at Lam Research, you will engage with state-of-the-art technology, utilizing atomic precision, material science, and surface engineering to redefine technical limits. Your responsibilities will include formulating new and sophisticated process methodologies, specifying equipment requirements to fulfill processing needs, analyzing test results, and coordinating design specifications to ensure processing methods are compatible. Your expertise is vital to our clients' achievements, influencing the future of semiconductor advancements.

In this position, you will play a key role within The Deposition Group.

Your Responsibilities
  • Perform research, development, and evaluation in process engineering to support Lam's leading-edge semiconductor machinery and systems.
  • Assess and refine processing methods utilized in the production and fabrication of products.
  • Innovate and maintain new processes and enhancements to minimize production expenses and boost yields.
  • Gather and interpret test data to outline subsequent steps in process evolution and establish suitable limits and variables for process specifications.
  • Collaborate internally to strategize, collect data, analyze outcomes, and report on customer demonstrations for current process applications.
  • Work cross-functionally and with clients to comprehend roadmaps, process flows, critical points, requirements, and business challenges.
  • Support next-generation product development and launch activities aligned with the semiconductor roadmap.
  • Provide leadership, clear direction, and mentorship to process technicians to facilitate execution activities.
Qualifications We Seek

Essential Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or a related discipline with over 6 years of experience; or a PhD with more than 3 years of experience; or equivalent expertise.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience in laboratory settings and with semiconductor equipment, particularly in surface preparation and analytical techniques.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and/or Design of Experiments (DOE).
  • Proficient in MATLAB, Python, or similar scientific programming languages.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Experience with statistical tools such as JMP, Minitab, etc.
  • Background in Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD), Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD), Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition (PECVD), or Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD).
  • Knowledge in Plasma Physics, Reactive Ion Etching (RIE), Atomic Layer Etching (ALE), Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP), and Capacitively Coupled Plasma (CCP).
  • Understanding of material synthesis and characterization techniques.
  • Experience working in a collaborative and matrixed environment with diverse teams, semiconductor clients, and/or partners.
  • Experience in semiconductor processes, design, deposition, etching dielectrics or conductors, metal films, etc.
