Instructional Aide SPED

Job Summary:
The Instructional Aide SPED will provide instructional assistance to students under the direct supervision of a certified teacher. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting students with special needs and are looking to make a positive impact in the educational setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide instruction to students under the direction of the teacher, working with individual students or small groups.
- Assist the teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
- Assist with the administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
- Maintain a neat and orderly classroom environment.
- Assist with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
- Help the teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
- Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
- Supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom, including lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
- Maintain awareness of special needs or problems of individual students and communicate with the teacher as needed.
- Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
- Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Requirements:
- 48+ earned college credits, associate's degree, bachelor's, or master's degree from a U.S. Department of Education recognized accredited institution of higher learning (preferred).
- OR high school diploma with formal academic assessment passed as required by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).
- Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics.
- Ability to work well with children.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Some experience working with children.
