Position Overview
As a Special Education Instructional Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with diverse learning needs. This position involves working closely with educators to facilitate an effective learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with teachers to assist students in achieving their academic objectives, providing targeted support to individuals or small groups.
- Help maintain classroom discipline and implement behavioral strategies to foster a conducive learning atmosphere.
- Supervise students during various activities, including meals and recreational periods, ensuring their safety and engagement.
- Assist in the preparation of documentation for educational assessments and contribute to the completion of special education reports.
- Support the planning and execution of tailored instructional strategies for students with unique learning requirements.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervising educator.
Qualifications
Candidates must possess an Educational Aide certificate as mandated by the State Board for Educator Certification. This includes:
- A minimum of two years of higher education (48 semester hours) or an associate's degree.
- Demonstrated proficiency in reading, writing, and mathematics through a local academic assessment.
Experience
1 to 3 years of relevant experience in an educational setting is preferred.
Skills and Certifications
Possession of an Educational Aide certificate is required.
Leadership and Judgment
This role does not involve supervisory responsibilities but may include providing guidance and support to colleagues.
Work Environment
The position is typically performed in a standard educational setting, free from hazardous conditions. The ability to lift or carry items weighing less than 15 pounds is necessary.
