Job Title: NSIS Sorter B Shift

The NSIS Sorter B Shift is a critical role in our fresh pork facility, responsible for the evaluation of carcasses and ensuring the highest standards of food safety.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate carcasses for pathological concerns and work closely with USDA inspectors to assess findings.
  • Trim heads, evaluate viscera, and assess carcasses for dressing and pathological defects.
  • Interact daily with plant management, employees, and government officials to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Maintain an excellent understanding of federal, state, and local regulations affecting food safety requirements.
  • Provide support to the FSQA management team on special projects and activities related to food safety and product quality.
  • Assist in the development and enhancement of department programs and procedures.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in meat science, food science, microbiology, engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Two years of progressively responsible positions or five years of experience in the meat/pork industry.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of current and application of USDA and FSIS directives and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and/or governmental regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish/French) preferred.
  • Strong personal computer skills and understanding of recruiting metrics and reports.
Physical Demands:

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, occasionally lifts up to 100 pounds, and sometimes push and/or move up to 300 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
