Job Title: Environmental Scientist

Are you passionate about restoring native California anadromous fish species? Do you have a strong background in environmental science and a desire to work on interdisciplinary projects? The Department of Water Resources is seeking a highly motivated Environmental Scientist to join our team.

Job Summary:

The Environmental Scientist will be responsible for carrying out projects to help restore native California anadromous fish species. This will involve working on an interdisciplinary team of scientists and engineers to develop, implement, and adaptively manage fish restoration projects. The successful candidate will have a strong background in environmental science, ecology, and conservation biology, and will be able to work effectively in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct fieldwork to monitor and assess the health of aquatic habitats and fish populations
  • Develop and implement restoration plans to improve fish habitats and populations
  • Collaborate with other scientists and engineers to develop and implement adaptive management strategies
  • Communicate project results and recommendations to stakeholders and the public
  • Work with the team to develop and implement project plans and budgets
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in environmental science, ecology, conservation biology, or a related field
  • Strong background in environmental science, ecology, and conservation biology
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment
  • Physical fitness to meet the demands of extended field sampling in aquatic habitats
