Job Title: Environmental Scientist

Are you passionate about restoring native California anadromous fish species and working on interdisciplinary projects? The Department of Water Resources is seeking a motivated Environmental Scientist to join our team.

Job Summary

This position involves a mix of field work, science communication, data analysis, and leadership. You will work on developing, implementing, and adaptively managing fish restoration projects, collaborating with scientists and engineers to achieve our goals.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct field sampling and monitoring in aquatic habitats
  • Develop and implement fish restoration projects
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to achieve project goals
  • Analyze data and provide scientific recommendations
  • Communicate project results to stakeholders
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must be physically fit to meet the demands of extended field sampling. You must also be able to swim 50 yards and stay afloat for at least 10 minutes. Additionally, you must be able to move and transport equipment or objects weighing up to 40 pounds over rugged terrain. A valid California driver's license is also required to drive to various meetings and sites.
