Job Description and Duties

The Department of Water Resources is seeking a highly skilled Environmental Scientist to join our team. As a key member of our Environmental Monitoring Program, you will be responsible for collecting and analyzing biological and water quality samples from the San Francisco Bay-Delta estuary.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and organize field equipment for sampling and data collection
  • Assist in the collection, preservation, and processing of biological and water quality samples
  • Enter data into online databases and perform quality assurance checks
  • Contribute to the preparation of scientific reports and presentations
  • Assist technical staff with statistical analysis of ecological data and conduct primary scientific research for special studies
Requirements:
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to lift and carry field equipment
