Job Overview

Position Objective

The Registered Nurse plays a crucial role in evaluating, planning, executing, and coordinating patient care throughout their surgical journey, from the moment of admission until discharge. This position is integral to achieving optimal patient outcomes in alignment with the facility's mission. Responsibilities include preparing patients for surgical interventions, monitoring their recovery in the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU), and facilitating a smooth discharge process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients upon admission and continuously throughout their stay.
  • Implement individualized care plans based on patient assessments and collaboratively set goals with patients and their families.
  • Ensure timely and organized delivery of patient care, adhering to established protocols and standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle all patient information with discretion and sensitivity.
  • Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills in interactions with patients, families, and healthcare team members.

Qualifications

  • Current nursing license in the state of practice.
  • Completion of Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications preferred.
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in PACU, ICU, or ER nursing is preferred.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and provide clear direction to team members.
  • Competence in correlating clinical data with patient care needs.

  • Provide preoperative and postoperative education to patients and their families.
  • Monitor patient conditions and administer medications as required.

  • Foster positive relationships with colleagues and assist in training new staff members.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care delivery.

Compliance and Standards

  • Adhere to regulatory requirements and facility policies to ensure high-quality patient care.
