Key Responsibilities- Perform thorough preoperative assessments to determine patient conditions and suitable anesthetic methods in conjunction with supervising anesthesiologists.
- Ensure readiness of anesthesia equipment, which includes verifying the functionality of machines, small tools, blood pressure monitors, endotracheal tubes, and anesthetic medications.
- Administer anesthesia while closely monitoring vital signs and other indicators of the patient's response. Accurate and timely documentation of the patient's status during and post-anesthesia is essential.
- Conduct follow-up assessments after surgery, ensuring optimal patient conditions in the PACU and visiting inpatients within 24-48 hours to evaluate recovery.
- Deliver anesthesia services under the direct oversight of a qualified faculty anesthesiologist.
- Report any equipment malfunctions promptly.
- Guide RNSA students in their clinical training and anesthetic administration.
- Participate in on-call duties alongside faculty anesthesiologists.
- Master's degree in nursing; a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) is preferred.
- Valid nursing license in Ohio.
- Authorization to practice as a CRNA in Ohio as per the Ohio Board of Nursing.
- Current certification or recertification as a nurse anesthetist from the NBCRNA.
- Fulfillment of educational criteria established by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs.
