Position Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform thorough preoperative assessments to determine patient conditions and suitable anesthetic methods in conjunction with supervising anesthesiologists.
  • Ensure readiness of anesthesia equipment, which includes verifying the functionality of machines, small tools, blood pressure monitors, endotracheal tubes, and anesthetic medications.
  • Administer anesthesia while closely monitoring vital signs and other indicators of the patient's response. Accurate and timely documentation of the patient's status during and post-anesthesia is essential.
  • Conduct follow-up assessments after surgery, ensuring optimal patient conditions in the PACU and visiting inpatients within 24-48 hours to evaluate recovery.
  • Deliver anesthesia services under the direct oversight of a qualified faculty anesthesiologist.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions promptly.
  • Guide RNSA students in their clinical training and anesthetic administration.
  • Participate in on-call duties alongside faculty anesthesiologists.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in nursing; a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) is preferred.
  • Valid nursing license in Ohio.
  • Authorization to practice as a CRNA in Ohio as per the Ohio Board of Nursing.
  • Current certification or recertification as a nurse anesthetist from the NBCRNA.
  • Fulfillment of educational criteria established by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs.
