Position Overview

The Senior Engineering Manager will oversee the development of various products, focusing on technical expertise and product functionality, as well as the integration of key components and their subsystems. This role is essential in aligning both immediate and long-term objectives to fulfill quality, functionality, customer satisfaction, and competitive advantage.



Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the integration of advanced engines and their subsystems to support future product lines.
  • Conduct research and development activities to align with product roadmaps for portable equipment.
  • Steer product development initiatives across multiple projects, managing budgets and timelines as outlined in strategic plans.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and participate in product management meetings to assess project readiness for production.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in the product development lifecycle and technical specifications database.
  • Ensure the team effectively addresses field issues and warranty claims related to product components.
  • Enhance product quality and reliability through warranty and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee the financial implications of product development and related functions.
  • Maintain a global perspective in new product development to ensure manufacturability and distribution.
  • Provide strategic direction throughout the product development lifecycle, leveraging historical insights and company objectives.
  • Employ innovative problem-solving techniques and foster a culture of creativity and diverse thinking within the team.
  • Lead innovation initiatives and challenges to drive engagement and new ideas.
  • Manage a team comprising engineers and interns, ensuring efficient organization of tasks and goals.
  • Monitor project progress and adjust resources as necessary to meet objectives, inspiring a culture of innovation and timely product development.
  • Outline strategies for employee development and succession planning, identifying essential skills for a diverse team.
  • Remove obstacles to project execution, enabling effective implementation of plans.
  • Build strong interdepartmental relationships to enhance collaboration and project success.



Qualifications

  • Proven experience in leading engineering teams through product development and optimization efforts.
  • Comprehensive understanding of modern and legacy diesel engine functionalities.
  • Significant knowledge of fluid system design relevant to diesel engines and their components.
  • Strong competency in thermodynamics and heat transfer principles.
  • Familiarity with heat exchanger analysis and system performance relationships.
  • Experience applying the First Law of Thermodynamics in practical scenarios.
  • Knowledge of power analysis in relation to compressors and generators.
  • Ability to cultivate strong relationships across organizational functions and mentor engineers at various career stages.
  • Capacity for leading change and providing innovative solutions through data-driven decision-making.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; MBA preferred.
  • Experience: Less than 7 years.
  • Travel: Minimal, less than 10%.
