Position Summary

Role Summary:
The primary responsibilities of the Certified Pharmacy Technician involve the sterile preparation of category 2 and category 3 pharmaceutical products under the guidance of a licensed pharmacist.
This role also includes participation in the clean room sterilization team, with a minimum expectation of three cleanings per month. The work schedule will include rotations across days, evenings, and weekends.
This position is eligible for our Pharmacy Technician Incentive Program, which offers $5000 in commitment incentives distributed over a two-year timeframe. Payments are made after six months, one year, and two years of service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process medication and supply requests for distribution to hospitals and clinics associated with the health system.
- Execute sterile compounding of medication batches.
- Coordinate deliveries to hospitals and clinics, ensuring compliance with temperature control requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation of pharmaceutical distribution activities, utilizing both automated and manual systems.
- Address and prioritize customer inquiries regarding pharmacy distribution or compounding services.
- Employ automated dispensing technology and related software to fulfill medication orders.
- Manage inventory by receiving, restocking, and rotating products, including expiration date oversight.
- Assist in training new staff, providing education on job-specific tasks.
- Engage in process improvement initiatives.
- Participate in regulatory compliance inspections of medication storage areas, including controlled substance inventories and necessary documentation.
Additional Information
Education Requirements:
● No specific educational requirements, although completion of an academic pharmacy technician training program is preferred.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
● Registration with the NC Board of Pharmacy is required unless enrolled in a PharmD program.
● Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) from PTCB or ExCPT from NHA is required unless enrolled in a PharmD program.
Professional Experience Requirements:
- Previous experience as a pharmacy technician is preferred.
- Experience in sterile compounding is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (typically throughout an 8-hour shift).
- Capability to lift at least 40 pounds repeatedly during the shift.
- Ability to reach overhead for product access or cleaning tasks.
