Position Overview:
The Sweetbay Barista plays a crucial role in crafting both hot and cold beverages according to standardized recipes, ensuring that every product is visually appealing and delicious. This position is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and safety within the coffee bar and work areas, while also focusing on minimizing waste and optimizing the cost-to-production ratio.

Key Responsibilities:

• Welcome customers upon entry and provide them with drink menus.
• Answer inquiries regarding ingredients and beverage options.
• Accurately take orders, paying close attention to customer preferences.
• Demonstrate knowledge of beverage preparation techniques for both hot and cold drinks.
• Operate the Point of Sale (P.O.S) system efficiently.
• Handle cashiering duties, including closing checks and cash management.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as well as side-work duties as per assigned rotation.
• Maintain a positive and professional demeanor while interacting with guests.
• Ensure work areas are well-stocked and prepare requisitions as necessary.
• Comply with company and departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Promote coffee consumption by educating customers about products and selling related equipment and supplies.
• Maintain inventory levels by restocking coffee supplies and other items.
• Ensure equipment is functioning properly and report any maintenance issues.
• Adhere to health and safety regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
• Gather customer feedback and communicate suggestions for new menu items to management.

Qualifications:

• Effective verbal and written communication skills with employees and guests.
• Able to multitask and prioritize duties as assigned by management.
• Maintain a high standard of personal appearance and grooming.
• Ability to understand and apply complex information and basic math.
• Previous experience in a similar role is preferred.
