Job Overview

Position Title: Team Leader

General Overview:

Under the guidance of the Executive Director at Lapeer Team Work Inc, the Team Leader serves as a key advocate and coordinator for community services, resources, and support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This role emphasizes a person-centered planning approach, enabling individuals to lead fulfilling lives within their communities. The Team Leader is responsible for ensuring that services align with the organization's mission while upholding high ethical standards. The ideal candidate will be proactive, excel in collaborative environments, possess strong communication skills, and demonstrate a commitment to serving vulnerable populations. The primary objective is to deliver high-quality services that promote inclusion, opportunities, and independence for those served.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver services in accordance with the individualized person-centered plan.
  • Provide constructive feedback, positive reinforcement, and strategic interventions to support and guide trainees.
  • Oversee trainees during their participation in residential and community-based activities.
  • Offer direct assistance to clients as necessary.
  • Adhere to Mandated Reporter protocols.
  • Document progress notes, incident reports, and time sheets, and collect relevant data for trainee program plans, submitting reports at designated staff meetings.
  • Assist in setting goals and objectives for trainee program plans.
  • Conduct annual reviews of trainee files and assess new trainees upon program entry.
  • Communicate accurate information both in writing and verbally.
  • Participate in required departmental meetings as directed by management.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Engage in in-service training, conferences, staff meetings, and other scheduled training opportunities.
  • Support the organization in fundraising initiatives, community awareness campaigns, and participation in community events as assigned.

Requirements:

During the initial employment phase, the following are mandatory:

  • Completion of a background check during orientation and annually thereafter.
  • Obtain Recipient Rights Training within 30 days of hire.
  • Achieve CPR/First Aid Training Certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Maintain current certifications as required by governing agencies or the Executive Director.
  • Acquire the appropriate Public Passenger Chauffeurs License or CDL certification to operate 15-passenger vans for transportation to work sites.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to frequently lift and carry items weighing up to 20 pounds.
  • Frequent need to sit, stand, walk, and kneel while performing job duties.
  • Must possess fine and gross motor skills, with the ability to reach above shoulder level and push/pull objects.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred experience or training in working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Experience in behavioral health is advantageous.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Must maintain a driving record that meets company insurance standards.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient in reading, writing, performing calculations, utilizing a computer, and analyzing and interpreting documents.
  • Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries and complaints, define problems, collect data, and draw conclusions.
  • Capable of leading, guiding, and collaborating with others to foster a supportive work environment through clear instructions, constructive feedback, and encouragement.

The Executive Director retains the right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities as necessary.
